On a hot and muggy summer day, Penn Rail Videos set out to explore an entirely new piece of railroad. This video features some never-before-seen footage of the former Reading Railroad's mainline between Philadelphia and Reading, PA, and we will catch a variety of trains powered by high-horse-powered diesel locomotives. The first train of the day is not a Norfolk Southern train; it is CSXT Intermodal train Q190. CSX cannot run it's stack trains over certain portions of it's Trenton Line due to height clearance issues. So in turn, CSX runs west over the NS Harrisburg Line to Abrams yard, will run around its train at Abrams, and then heads east across the Schuylkill River through the Norristown Transportation Center. We'll then see several Norfolk Southern trains heading both east and west over the former Reading Mainline, including a train passing through Black Rock Tunnel, one of only eight the Reading had on its entire system.
